Small steps. Meaningful progress.

I’m Mr. Williams, an Educator in San Francisco, an Education Specialist, and the Creator of Turt Math.

Before entering education, I worked in technology sales. Moving into the classroom gave me a new purpose: helping students find ways to learn that build their confidence and recognize their strengths. I’ve spent the past three years working as an Education Specialist, including one year as a department chair.

I support students from diverse backgrounds, including students with disabilities and individualized education programs (IEPs). That work has taught me to listen closely, make room for different ways of learning, and partner with families.

Why I created Turt Math

Parents often ask me, “How can I help my child outside of school?” They want extra resources, meaningful practice, and a way to support learning at home.

Those conversations inspired Turt Math: a welcoming place where students can practice math, explore new worlds, and build confidence at their own pace. Visual examples, optional read-aloud, spoken answers, and adjustable learning supports give students different ways to participate.

Turt Math provides supplemental practice in K–8 math skills. It is designed to work alongside classroom instruction and the guidance families receive from their child’s teachers.

Meet Turt

Turt the Turtle

The inspiration for Turt came from my own pet turtle. Watching a turtle move through the world reminded me that progress can be steady, curious, and unhurried.

That idea became the heart of the app. Turt explores one step at a time, meets new friends, and celebrates progress along the way. Students can do the same—with time to think, opportunities to try again, and support when they need it.

A partnership with families

Families bring valuable knowledge about their children—their interests, strengths, cultures, and experiences. My goal is to offer a resource that respects that knowledge and helps connect learning at school with practice at home.

As an educator, I want students to feel capable and families to feel supported. Turt Math is one way I’m working toward that goal.

Every student deserves room to learn, time to grow, and reasons to keep trying.
