Frequently asked questions
A little help for students, families, and teachers.
What is Turt Math?
Turt Math is a math practice adventure created by Mr. Williams, an Educator in San Francisco. Students solve problems, explore worlds, meet friends, and earn accessories for Turt.
Who is it for?
It offers supplemental K–8 math skill practice, including supports for students with disabilities and different learning needs. Families and teachers can choose the grade, skill, and practice level that fits the student.
Does it replace school instruction or an IEP?
No. Use it alongside classroom instruction and guidance from your child’s teachers. The available supports do not replace individualized services or guarantee that every IEP accommodation is met.
Is it aligned with Eureka Math²?
The learning path connects selected skills to the supplied school Eureka Math² scope and sequence. Practice is supplemental; it does not reproduce every curriculum lesson or provide the complete Eureka Math² program.
What learning supports can I use?
Open Learning supports to adjust reading speed, text size, contrast, spacing, quiet colors, reduced motion, and the number of answer choices. You can also use visual models, worked examples, and optional read-aloud.
Will the app speak automatically?
No. Choose a read button when you want the question, example, feedback, or your answer read aloud. Voices depend on your browser and device. Celebration sounds are optional.
Why is Speak answer not working?
Dictation depends on browser support, microphone permission, and sometimes an internet connection. Open Help with spoken answers for troubleshooting. You can always type, select an answer, or use your keyboard’s dictation.
How do I unlock worlds?
Start in Golden Gate Park, then unlock PIER 39 and the Golden Gate Bridge. Complete five problems at each destination to continue to Mozambique, South Africa, the Faroe Islands, and an imagination world in space. All worlds remain visible so students can see where they are going.
How do rewards and accessories work?
Solved problems earn insects, fish, and commercial turtle pellets in rotation. A treasure chest becomes available every five solved problems. Trade collectibles in Turt’s backpack for accessories. Accessories you already own can be worn again without another purchase.
What happens when I get an answer wrong?
Clear feedback appears near the answer choices, followed by a worked example of a different problem. Try again at your own pace. Wrong answers do not remove your earned rewards.
Does my progress save?
Completed practice, world progress, collectibles, and accessories are saved in the same browser on the same device. They do not sync between devices or browsers. Clearing browser data or using private browsing can remove saved progress. A question you have not completed may change when you return.
Can I use it on a phone or iPad?
You can use Turt Math in a browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. The Install app button explains how to add it to your home screen when supported. This is an installable web app; there is no App Store or Google Play listing yet.
Can I practice without internet?
After an online visit, the app can save core practice for offline use when your browser supports it. Offline availability depends on the browser’s storage. Speech dictation and uncached pages may need internet.
Do students need an account?
No student account or student name is required for the current practice app. Progress is stored in the browser.
How can parents support practice at home?
Choose a manageable skill, encourage your child to explain their thinking, and use examples when needed. Keep sessions comfortable and celebrate effort. Ask your child’s teacher which skills are most useful to practice.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?
Visit Contact and include what happened, your device and browser, and your idea. Private message delivery is still being connected; the page currently lets you prepare and copy feedback but does not send it. Please leave out student names and private IEP information.
